Suzuki Recall: about 200,000 Vehicles affected

The article is about one of the latest recalls affecting Suzuki vehicles.

There are hundreds and thousands of Suzuki vehicles on American roads now, though the motor corporation may not sell any more cars in the US. Yet, some of the remaining vehicles that have already been sold in the country have got a problem related to the airbags. Suzuki recall thus affects approximately 193,936 cars.

The affected vehicles are model-year 2006-2011 Grand Vitara SUVs and 2007-2011 SX4 compact cars. The defect is seen in the fact that the front passenger-side floor mat may fail making the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor to fail working, too. If the OCS sensor fails, it may cause the front passenger seat airbag to deploy during a crash independent of the fact whether it is an adult or a child sitting there.

Thus, the automaker is recalling about 200,000 vehicles to replace the front passenger-seat cushion assembly. There are not yet enough car parts available to fix all the vehicles affected by Suzuki recall. The automaker will notify the owners about the recall during October, 2013. Also, Suzuki owners may get a second notification when the sufficient number of car parts is available. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-255-2550 for more information.
