Nearly 733 model-year 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport cars are affected by Mitsubishi recall. The affected vehicles were manufactured between July 20, 2012, and May 29, 2013 and are equipped with leather seats. It should be mentioned that only vehicles equipped with leather seats are affected.
According to a report made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the driver-side seat-mounted airbag wiring may have been incorrectly routed while installing the leather seat cover in the vehicles. The thing is that if the seat height is adjusted, the wiring may get damaged and that may result in airbag failure. As you know, airbag failure during a crash may bring to serious injuries and even deaths.
The automaker has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. The dealers will fix the affected vehicles at no cost to the owners. If you want to get more information about the Mitsubishi recall, you can contact the automaker at 800-222-0037.
