Maserati and their automobiles are known as the alternative to other more popular makes. They offer a different type of driving style that is more driver-oriented, has an Italian character, and lovely styling. Although they are a relatively low-volume automotive manufacturer, they are still very popular in the luxury car buying market. Their sportiest convertible, the Maserati GranCabrio MC, was given a healthy dose of power, performance and style thanks to the German aftermarket tuning company that specialize in Maserati, Novitec Tridente. The team created a new upgrade program for the Maserati GranCabrio MC that features a new supercharged engine, new aerodynamics, forged wheels, and an upgraded chassis for an even more exciting drive.
The most exciting aspect about the new Maserati GranCabrio MC by Novitec Tridente is easily the supercharged 4.7-liter V-8 engine. The once naturally-aspirated engine was completely overhauled by the Novitec Tridente engineers and given a big compressor that forces air into the combustion chamber to create more power. The engine was modified with a new supercharger, an efficient cooling system, larger fuel injectors, and a new intake manifold. A full 105 mm stainless steel exhaust system with controllable flaps helps to improve the sound and optimize backpressure. The ECU was then tuned to accommodate the new supercharger system and a total of 646 horsepower at 7,500 RPM and 624 Nm of torque 5,600 RPM is sent to each of the rear forged wheels. This enables the convertible sports car to accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds and 124 mph in 11.4 seconds while hitting a top speed of over 190 mph.
In order to handle all of that extra power, the Novitec Tridente team had to upgrade the chassis of the Maserati GranCabrio MC. The team installed a new hydraulic sports suspension that gives drivers the ability to adjust the height, damping, and compression to tailor the ride to a specific race track. The suspension can also be raised to overcome obstacles to prevent damage to the car. A new set of forged wheels in a three piece design were also installed to reduce weight. The wheels measure a staggered 9J x 21 and 12J x 22 and wear high performance Pirelli PZero tires to improve grip and performance.
After the engine and chassis were upgraded, the Novitec Tridente team then shifted their focus onto the exterior design of the Maserati GranCabrio MC. Here, they installed a new lightweight carbon fiber hood with scoop to feed cool air into the engine. New side skirts were added between the set of forged wheels to emphasize the low ride height of the car. Both of the taillights and headlights were also tinted dark to create a menacing presence.
