More than 160,000 Ford Escapes are being recalled worldwide. Ford Escape recall affects more than 139,000 SUVs in the US. This time vehicles are being recalled due to two different issues.

Ford Escape vehicles equipped with 1.6-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder engines and manufactured between October 5, 2011, and June 2, 2013 are being called back due to engine cylinder head overheating. The thing is that the overheating may result in oil leaks and fires. The automaker is aware about several cases of fire due to the defect both in the USA and in Canada.

The second issue affecting the vehicles built between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012 is that engine-compartment fuel lines are defective and may result in fuel leakage. The leakage may cause a fire.

The owners of affected vehicles will be notified about the Ford Escape recall in January 23. The dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and perform the necessary repairs free of charge.
