The new Volvo V60 Polestar with Forged Wheels, Tuned Engine, and More!

Volvo is getting into the performance wagon game with their new V60 Polestar model. The new car comes equipped with a high performance engine, forged wheels, blue paint, and other goodies to make driving even more fun.

Volvos have often been overlooked when it comes to performance for a number of years. After their R models were discontinued, not model really stood out because there wasn’t a high demand for it and money dictated otherwise. Now that the Swedish car brand is under new ownership, the company has more money to play around with and have teamed up with Polestar, their motorsports racing team, to create the new Volvo V60 Polestar alongside of the new S60 Polestar model. The new performance wagon sports a number of unique and exciting features ranging from a new tuned engine to lightweight forged wheels, styling aspects, a new suspension, and more goodies to make driving even more exciting than the previous Volvo models.

The new Polestar Volvo V60 is a premium sports wagon with simplistic Swedish design and lots of create comforts. One of the first things that the Polestar team addressed was the 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder engine that is shared with the basic V60 model. Polestar wanted the engine to send more power to all four forged wheels so they installed a larger Borg Warner twin scroll turbocharger that feeds more boost into the engine. The team also installed a new, larger intercooler system that reduces charge air temperatures drastically while a new stainless steel 2.5 inch exhaust system helps to reduce backpressure for better throttle response and turbocharger spool time, and comes to an end in 3.5 inch tailpipes. In all a total of 350 horsepower at 5,700 RPM and 369 lb-ft. of torque at 2,800 to 4,750 RPM is produced.

All this power is sent to each of the four forged wheels thanks to an advanced all-wheel drive system from Haldex. The Polestar team created a new tune for the all-wheel drive system to alter the amount of power being sent to each wheel for better control and performance. The Volvo V60 Polestar is capable of accelerating to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds and to 124 mph in just 17.7 seconds. Top speed is all the way back at 155 mph.

Polestar made their presence felt in other places on the Volvo V60. The team installed a new set of high performance Ohlins shock absorbers that are stiffer than the units they replace and help to sharpen up handling dramatically. A new set of 8.0 x 20 forged wheels now sit at the front and rear axles and hide a set of high performance Brembo brakes that help the Volvo V60 Polestar stop quicker than ever before.
