Limited Edition Supercars : The McLaren-Mercedes Stirling Moss SLR

Reminiscent of the Mercedes racing cars that gave us the famous “Silver Arrows”, this supercar is a tribute to a legendary British race car driver, Sir Stirling Moss.

In December of 2008, McLaren-Mercedes unveiled what was to be the final SLR model manufactured. Named after Sir Stirling Moss, and produced with wind deflectors instead of windows, only 75 of this model were ever made. The McLaren-Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss combines a one-of-a-kind, truly spectacular design along with the sophisticated technology of today, such as a supercharged V8 engine.

Now, almost 5 years later, the limited edition Mercedes has become a first class supercar for real Mercedes enthusiasts, whilst at the same time also being a head-nod towards the SLR club members whom were involved in the creation and development of this beautiful, high-performance sports car.

The highly developed form of the SLR Stirling Moss gives the motor tremendous momentum. it boasts a beautiful elongated bonnet, which gives an optical illusion of air passing over the body whilst a compact and muscular rear end gives the legendary SLR a strong visual impact when meeting the vehicle head-on. The powerfully contoured wings and the forward opening doors complete the emotional aesthetics of the SLR Stirling Moss.

The interior of the car can be protected with special covers made of carbon. With both covers on and the doors closed, the SLR Stirling Moss looks like something akin to a Michelangelo sculpture. The interior fittings have been greatly reduced down to the essentials in order to keep the car as lightweight as possible. Below the gearstick you will find the engraved in aluminium signature of the cars namesake.

As with all limited edition supercars, a bunch of celebrity interest has been spewed on the Stirling Moss SLR throughout the years since its release. In 2011 Kanye West made a grand entrance to the Cannes Film Festival by rolling up to the event in a version of the supercar, while in May 2013 pop sensation Rihanna reportedly spent $1,000,000 on a Stirling Moss SLR for her on-again, off-again boyfriend Chris Brown.

The SLR Stirling Moss has been lucky enough to both inherit and to profit from the long running experience of Mercedes-Benz combined with its Formula 1 partner McLaren. Leaving the combination of new technologies and historic class beyond doubt.
