The Inden Design SLS AMG Roadster with 600+ HP and 3 Piece Wheels

Inden Design has tuned the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster with an array of modifications including engine upgrades, 3 piece wheels, body work, and more.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster may not have the iconic Gullwing doors that it’s coupe sibling has but that doesn’t mean that it’s not an exciting super car. The SLS AMG Roadster has quite a bit of power and performance along with an open top to make sure driver and passenger are treated to a one-of-a-kind drop-top experience. The team at Inden Design in Germany, however, wanted to make things a bit more fun than they already were with their new upgrade program for the German super car. The new modification program includes chassis upgrades, 3 piece wheels, engine power modifications, and exterior body work designed to improve aerodynamics and style.

The first thing that the team at Inden Design focused on was the hand built 6.2-liter V-8 engine hidden beneath the hood of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster. The naturally aspirated engine produces an impressive power output and exhaust note in stock form, but it just wasn’t enough for Inden Design. The team installed a new air intake system including a polished manifold to suck in a larger volume of cool air, and a new stainless steel exhaust system with 100-cell catalytic converter, sport mufflers, and 105 mm polished tips. A special engine tune that optimizes a number of parameters allows for a total of 635 horsepower to each of the rear 3 piece wheels for better acceleration and top speed than the factory-spec model.

After the engine tune, the engineering and design team at Inden Design focused on optimizing the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster’s aerodynamics and styling. They opted to install new carbon fiber components to keep weight to a minimum. The new body work includes a new front spoiler lip that helps to redirect cool air into the engine bay and a new ventilated hood that keeps temperatures optimized. A pair of side skirts that run between the larger 3 piece wheels help to reduce drag while a new subtle trunk spoiler helps to generate downforce at the rear. A small diffuser insert adds a touch of style to the back of the super car.

The final touch on the super car was a new chassis setup that keeps the comfort of the factory ride while improving handling. The team installed a new set of KW Automotive variant 3 coilovers that allow drivers to adjust height, damping, and compression settings for the perfect setup for a given track. The team then installed a set of forged 3 piece wheels that are lighter than the factory wheels and add a touch of style to the SLS AMG Roadster. The rim setup was installed in a 10.5 x 21 front and 12.0 x 21 rear size to create a wider footprint for better performance.
