Ford and Lincoln Recall

This new Ford and Lincoln recall affects nearly 83,250 vehicles in the United States. The following models are involved in the recall:

  • Model-year 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans built between August 25, 2011, and November 30, 2013
  • Model-years 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers manufactured between September 2, 2010, and November 30, 2013
  • Model-Years 2013-2014 Ford Flex SUVs and Lincoln MKT crossovers built between September 12, 2011, and November 30, 2013.

The problem with the affected vehicles is that a component called "halfshaft retention circlip" may not have been installed correctly. As a result of this problem, the halfshafts may detach from the linkshaft during the drive. What is worse, there is no warning of such kind of a thing happening with the vehicle.

If the halfshaft gets detached from the linkshaft while driving, wheels will no longer get power from the engine. Besides, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake being applied after the detachment, the vehicle may undergo a roll away risk.

Owners will be notified about this Ford and Lincoln recall starting August 29. The dealers will inspect all affected vehicles and repair them free of charge. Owners of both Ford and Lincoln vehicles can contact Ford at 800-392-3673 for more information about the recall.
