Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac G3 under Recall

About 2,000 Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac G3 vehicles are being recalled.

About 2,000 Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac G3 vehicles are being recalled. The affected subcompact sedans and hatchbacks are from 2009-2010 and 2009 model-years respectively.

The problem with the cars is that the brake fluid used in them may not sufficiently protect the vehicles from corrosion in the braking system. If key components in the braking system corrode, braking effectiveness may be increased, more likely causing a crash and injuries.

General Motor has previously notified its owners about the problem. A voluntary customer-service campaign was carried out in 2012. However, the automaker has now decided to conduct a recall of the affected vehicles, although 66% of the affected cars have already been fixed during the customer-service campaign.

GM dealers will fix all the affected vehicles free of charge. Chevrolet Aveo owners may contact at 800-222-1020, Pontiac G3 owners may call at 800-762-2737 for more details about the recall.
