BMW 3 Series vehicles are also added to the existing Takata airbag recall. Millions of vehicles are affected by the problem with faulty airbag inflators provided by the supplier Takata. Now, the Bavarian automaker BMW is adding more than 1.6 million vehicles to this recall. Affected are 3 series vehicles. Nearly 574,000 cars are affected in the United States.

The automaker is going to replace the passenger-side, front airbag inflators in the aforementioned vehicles. More concretely, vehicles manufactured between May 1999 and August 2006 are affected by the recall. Besides, the affected cars are from 2000-2006 model-years.

The problem is the same as with the rest of the vehicles included in Takata airbag recall. The inflator may rupture during airbag deployment and the metal parts may hit the passengers and the driver, resulting in serious injuries. BMW is not aware of any incidents related to the issue,

The automaker is now manufacturing the parts needed to repair affected vehicles. BMW will notify all affected owners as soon as those parts are ready. Visit here for more about the BMW 3 Series recall.
