Jeep Grand Cherokee

Model-years 2011-2014 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles are under safety recall. Affected are nearly 895,000 vehicles:

  • 651,000 in the United States
  • 45,700 in Canada
  • 23,000 in Mexico
  • 175,000 outside North America

The recall affects specifically the vehicles manufactured between January 5, 2010 and December 11, 2013. The problem in the cars is that a wiring in the sun visor may short circuit, resulting in a fire. The two automakers are aware of three injuries caused by the defect. Besides, there may have been 52 cases of fire because of the accident.

Owners will be notified about Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee recall in August, this year. Dealers will inspect the vehicles to see whether there is anything wrong with the wiring. All the models will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide. Concerned owners may contact Chrysler at 800-853-1403 for more information.
