Model-years 2010-2012 Hyudnai Elantra Touring vehicles are affected by a new recall. The vehicles under recall were manufactured between December, 2009 and May, 2012.

The recall affects nearly 35,000 vehicles in the United States and more than 23,000 in Canada.

The problem with the affected vehicles is that when the side curtain airbag deploys, a support bracket that is fixed to the headliner may become displaced. If this happens, the vehicle’s occupants will get injured. However, the automaker is not aware of any injuries related to the problem.

The automaker will start notifying the affected owners about the recall starting with mid-August. The dealers will apply adhesive strips to the headliner. The repairs will be carried out free of charge. All affected owners may contact Hyundai at 800-633-5151 for more information about Hyundai Elantra Touring recall.
