Ignition Switch Issue

General Motors is recalling another 3 million vehicles due to the ignition switch issue. It should be noted that at least 13 people were killed due to the defect. Now, the manufacturer is conducting a new recall of nearly 3.16 million midsize and large vehicle in the United States. The problem is the same as in the previous recall. The thing is that the ignition switch may move out of the ''Run'' position if the key ring contains excessive weight.

GM has already recalled nearly 2.59 million vehicles due to the defect. Now, the total number of the affected vehicles is more than 5.4 million. Affected in this new recall are the following models:

  • Model-years 2005-2009 Buick LaCrosse
  • Model-years 2006-2014 Chevrolet Impala
  • Model-years 2000–2005 Cadillac DeVille
  • Model-yeras 2004–2011 Cadillac DTS
  • Model-years 2006–2011 Buick Lucerne
  • Model-years 2004–2005 Buick Regal LS and GS
  • Model-years 2006–2008 Chevy Monte Carlo

GM dealers will not fix the ignition, but will fix the key itself. The work will start in the next few weeks in all GM dealerhsips. The automaker will notify all the affected owners about the recall. Until the recall starts, GM advises its consumers to move all the unnecessary things out of the key ring.
