Mitsubishi is recalling certain 2012-2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicles due to problems with the ECU. The problem with the affected vehicles is that low temperatures may make the ECU malfunction. If this condition occurs, the vehicle may not be possible to start. Besides, the driver will not be able to unlock the doors, if the ECU fails. It should be noted, however, that in warmer conditions the vehicle starts working properly.
The exact number of the affected vehicles is still unknown. The manufacturer is identifying the affected vehicles by VIN. The only known fact is that vehicles manufactured between December 26, 2011 and February 28, 2013 are affected by the recall.
Mitsubishi will notify all the affected owners soon and the dealers will replace the entire module at no charge. All affected owners are advised to bring their F.A.S.T Keys with them for programming. Owners with questions may contact the automaker at 1-888-648-7820 for more information.
