The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched an investigation into model-years 2004-2006 Dodge Ram HD trucks (2500 and 3500 pickup trucks) equipped with manual transmissions. Involved in the investigation are nearly 110,000 vehicles.

The problem with the aforementioned trucks is related to the clutch interlock. The thing is that in several cases it was possible to start the vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. For example, in one of the incidents, a child was able to start a vehicle without depressing the clutch pedal. This resulted in the truck moving forward and hitting another child. The incident resulted in a fatality. In another case, an individual was knocked to the ground when doing some work under the hood of the vehicle. Here, again, the truck started without the clutch pedal being depressed. No one got injured as a result of this incident.

As you can see, the problem is rather a serious one and the NHTSA is now investigating all the complaints to see whether the problem is wide spread or not. If the problem is wide spread, a recall will be announced for Dodge Ram HD trucks.
