three Toyota recall campaigns

Three Toyota recall campaigns have been announced about. Overall 430,500 vehicles are affected in the United States.

The first recall affects nearly 370,000 Toyota Sienna vehicles. Affected are Siennas from 2004-2011 model-years. The problem with these vehicles is that in cold-weather states, where road salt is used, water may splash on the spare tire carrier causing it to rust. If this happens, the spare may even fall off the minivan.

The second Toyota recall affects nearly 50,000 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles. The problem in these vehicles is connected with the front seat passenger detection system. As a result of the fault, the airbag may fire when it should not, causing injuries and posing a risk of a crash.

The third recall involves model-year 2013 Lexus GS vehicles. Nearly 10,500 vehicles are affected. The problem is connected with the defective pedal load sensing switch. It may make the brakes activate while the vehicle is being driven.

Toyota will notify all the affected owners about the three Toyota recall campaigns. The dealers will perform all the necessary repairs free of charge. Owners can call:

  • at 1-800-331-4331 for more information about Sienna and Highlander recalls
  • at 1-800-255-3987 for Lexus GS recall.
