Chrysler minivan recall affects more than 780,000 vehicles from 2010-2014 model-years. Affected are Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans. Of the total 780,000 vehicles 644,850 are in the United States, 106,980 are in Canada, 8,009 are in Mexico, and 20,638 elsewhere. The problematic vehicles were all manufactured between August 25, 2010 and October 31, 2013.
The problem is that short circuits may occur in the window switch assembly due to the spill of beverages or other kinds of moisture. These short circuits might overheat resulting in a fire.
The automaker will contact the affected owners and inform them about when to schedule appointments with dealers. Besides, the automaker encourages all affected owners to bring their vehicles to the closest dealerships after May 14 to have the switches disconnected until they are fixed. All the repairs will be carried out free of charge.
