The 30th Anniversary BMW M5 sports More Power and Forged Wheels

BMW has made the M5 for an amazing 30 years. To celebrate, they’re unveiling a new 30th anniversary special edition model with even more power, exclusive features, and even forged wheels.

The BMW M5 has become the prestigious go-to premium sport sedan that many other automakers use as a benchmark. The M5 has enjoyed a long and successful history sitting at the top of the sports car game due to its GmbH and their motorsport knowledge. The first model, introduced back in 1984 as a 1985 model year car, set new standards across the automotive world and has been a hit ever since. BMW has used engines ranging from six-, eight, and even ten-cylinders and also turbochargers in order to make more power. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their go-to sports sedan, the company has created a limited run of 300 “30 Jahre M5” models that feature all sorts of upgrades and additions such as more power, forged wheels, and styling pieces inside and out to pay homage to the run of the M5.

The new 30th Anniversary BMW M5 will still utilize the same advanced 4.4 liter V-8 engine that cranks out a whopping 560 horsepower from 6,000 to 7,000 RPM and 502 lb-ft. of torque from 1,500 to 5,750 RPM, but this time around, the engine has quite a bit more power than before. The special edition models send more power to their rear forged wheels thanks to a new ECU tune that increases the boost pressure created by the pair of turbochargers and optimizes a number of things like airflow, spark, fuel delivery, and throttle response. This results in a total of 600 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. of torque for some outstanding acceleration performance. With the added power, the 30th Anniversary special edition BMW M5 is capable of sprinting to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

The improved performance also comes along with enhanced driving dynamics thanks to upgraded chassis elements. The Active M differential that works to keep both of the rear forged wheels achieving maximum grip has been tuned for even better exiting grip on corners. The M Dynamic mode and M-specific Servotronic function electronics have been re-worked for better driving dynamics as well. Rounding these upgrades off are a new set of forged wheels that measure 20-inches and feature a special bi-color finish that sets them apart from the standard rims in the M5 line.

Elsewhere, the new 30th Anniversary BMW M5 gains Frozen Dark Silver Metallic paint, special badging, and black chrome exterior accents and trim pieces. Inside new badges adorn the M sport seats, while alcantara is worn on the roof. Special trim pieces and logos can also be found throughout the cabin.
