Besides, according to a notice by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly 170,172 model-years 2010-2012 BMW cars, equipped with inline-six-cylinder engines, will get extended warranties.

The problem with the aforementioned vehicles is that bolts securing the variable camshaft timing adjustment unit might become loose and might break. This may result in engine stalling increasing the risk of a collision. It should be noted that the automaker has not received any reports of injuries so far.

BMW will notify owners starting in May, this year. The dealers will inspect the cars and fix them for free. Owners with questions about BMW Recall may contact the automaker at 800-525-7417.
