You Can Drive an SUV and Not Spend a Ton on Gas

Don't sacrifice size for fuel efficiency, some great SUV reviews

When the economy was once booming in the early 2000s, SUVs were a well-respected vehicle on the road that offered roomy interiors and powerful engines. Today, they have declined in popularity due to the high cost to fuel them for an overall expensive vehicle to drive. Fortunately, there are several newly-released vehicles that offer plenty of fuel-efficiency for a popular type of car that can be enjoyed again.

1. 2013 BMW X1

This luxury vehicle is not only classy in design, but also has the same fuel efficiency as a sedan with 24 miles per gallon in the city and 34 miles per gallon on the highway. Although it's more compact in size, it still offers the same features as the other SUV models in its brand with easy handling and heated seats. With this model, it's easy to continue enjoying the brand without sacrificing as much for the cost. Although this is an SUV. It's probably not a good idea to take this one for a spin in Moab Utah or off-roading in the Tetons of Wyoming. It is meant to do well in snowy or icy paved road conditions around town, versus being used as something to go mudding with.

2. 2013 Toyota Highlander

The latest model of the Toyota Highlander combines both a sporty design and a number of amenities with the selling point being the fuel efficiency. The vehicle does well on the road with 28 miles per gallon on both the highway and road. Not only the fuel efficiency, but the family friendly seating is a big plus when picking up this vehicle.

3. 2013 Mazda CX-5

The Mazda brand has worked hard to stay on top of the game with its latest release of the Mazda CX-5. It not only has exceptional handling on the road, but also offers 26 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway. It even allows the driver to have the option of either front or all-wheel drive. Overland Park has the Mazda CX 5 and can give a lot more additional information on this SUV.

4. 2013 Lexus RX

One of the few hybrid SUVs on the market, the 2013 Lexus RX has combined both a powerful vehicle with plenty of fuel-efficiency for a car that is well worth its price. With a combined mpg of 30 miles per gallon, it gets 32 miles in the city and 28 miles on the highway. The chic and sophisticated design of the model may be deceiving, but the green vehicle will cost less to drive than most would assume.

Instead of compromising on the type of vehicle that you choose due to the high cost of gas, there are several different models available in 2013 that are easy on the wallet. It means being able to drive long distances without the guilt involved and still enjoy the benefits of the large vehicle. So do some research, go out and have fun car shopping, and make the decision that works best for you!
