Toyota recalling vehicles globally

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported about Toyota recalling vehicles globally to handle several different problems. Nearly 1.3 million Toyota cars are included in the Toyota recall. The models affected are the following:

  • Model-years 2009-2010 Corolla
  • Model-years 2009-2010 Matrix
  • Model-years 2009-2010 Tacoma
  • Model-years 2008-2010 Highlander
  • Model-years 2006-2008 RAV4
  • Model-years 2006-2010 Yaris

The problem with the aforementioned vehicles is that when the steering wheel is turned, electrical connections to a spiral cable assembly may be damaged. As a result of this the driver’s airbag may be deactivated, it may fail to deploy during a crash.

Toyota will notify owners about the recall by mail. However, there is no information about when the notification letter will arrive. The dealers will inspect and repair the affected vehicles free of charge. If you want to learn more about the recall, you can call Toyota at 800-331-4331.
