Chevrolet Cruze Recall: Nearly 172,000 Cars affected

Chevrolet Cruze recall affects more than 172,000 vehicles.
Chevrolet Cruze Recall

Chevrolet Cruze recall affects more than 172,000 vehicles. Affected are model years 2013-2014 Chevrolet Cruze sedans that are equipped with turbo 1,4-liter engines. The affected vehicles were manufactured between November 28, 2012 and March 7, 2014.

The problem with the affected cars is that the right front half shaft may detach while driving. This may cause the vehicles to lose power and to stop. If the driver parks the vehicle with a fractured half shaft without applying the brake, the vehicle may roll away unexpectedly. This may increase the risk of a crash.

Hence, General Motors has informed its dealers to stop selling model years 2013-2014 Cruze vehicles. The automaker will start notifying the owners of affected vehicles in April 28. The owners will also be notified a second time when components necessary for the repairs will be available. Dealers will inspect the fix the cars free of charge, if needed.
