Nissan and Infiniti recall

Nissan and Infiniti recall affects nearly 989,701 Nissan and Infinity cars. Affected are the following models:

  • Model-years 2013-2014 Altimas, Leafs, Pathfinders and Sentras
  • Model-year 2013 Nissan NV200s and Infiniti JX35s
  • Model-year 2014 Infiniti Q50s and QX60s

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the occupant classification sensor software may falsely classify the front passenger seat as empty. If such a thing happens during a crash, the passenger airbag wouldn't deploy. As a result of this the risk of injuries may increase.

Nissan has conducted a recall of these vehicles in March, 2013. However, according to the automaker, this issue is a separate one.
It should be noted that there have been two accidents related to the issue. Also, several people companied about the problem. According to the NHTSA, Nissan is aware about two incidents where the airbag failed to deploy.

Nissan will start notifying owners in mid-April, 2014. The dealers will update the software free of charge. Owners of the affected vehicles can contact the automaker at 800-647-7261for more information about Nissan and Infiniti recall.
